Akhila Bharatiya Kshatriya Maha Sabha, A.P. Unit
aa

This Organisation is formed to create awareness among Kshatriya Rajput of various States in India and also bring them under single platform. In Andhra Pradesh this organization was established during the year 2010 with a aim to protect social and cultural heritage of Rajput Society. We have organized the State Level Conference of Akhila Bharatiya Kshatriya Maha Sabha in the month of March, 2010 at Prakasam Hall, Gandhi Bhavan, Nampally, Hyderabad within a short span of organization setup, on this occasion we have invited many delegates from all over India and they have graced the function with their valuable suggestions for welfare of our society. In addition to this we do not loose any opportunity and occasion to bring the name and fame to the Rajput community on any cultural event organized in the city and any part of the state.

HISTORY OF RAJPUT:

Rajput, (from Sanskrit raja-putra, “son of a king”), any of about 12 million landowners organized in patrilineal clans and located mainly in central and northern India, especially in former Rajputana (“Land of the Rajputs”). The Rajputs regard themselves as descendants or members of the Kshatriya (warrior ruling) class.
.
. Rajput ancestry can be divided between Suryavanshi (“House of the Sun,” or Solar people), or those descended from Rama, the hero of the epic Ramayana; and Chandravanshi (“House of the Moon,” or Lunar people), or those descended from Krishna, the hero of the epic Mahabharata. A third group, Agnikula (“Family of the Fire God”), is the group from which the Rajputs derive their claim to be Kshatriyas.
The Rajputs emerged into political importance in the 9th and 10th centuries. From about Rajput dynasties dominated northern India.
The Rajputs are a martial race and caste of the Indian subcontinent. They are a Hindu caste whose members generally consider themselves to belong to the Kshatriya ("warrior")
Rajputs rose to prominence during the 6th to 12th centuries, and until the 20th century Rajputs ruled in the majority of the princely states of Rajasthan and Saurashtra, where the largest number of princely states were found.

The main lineages

The Rajputs are divided into clans, each clan belonging to one of three basic lineages (vanshas or vamshas)

  1. The Suryavanshi lineage, claiming descent from Surya, the Hindu Sun god. In English it is known as the Solar Dynasty;

  2. The Chandravanshi lineage, or Lunar dynasty lineage claims descent from Chandra (the moon or Budh). The Chandravanshi lineage is known as the Lunar Dynasty in English;

    1. The Yaduvanshi lineage are a major sub-branch of the Chandravanshi lineage. Lord Krishna was born a Yaduvanshi.

    2. The Puruvanshi lineage are a major sub-branch of the ChandravanshiRajputs. The Kauravs and Pandavs of the epic poem Mahabharata were Puruvanshis.

  3. The Agnivanshi lineage claims descent from Agni, the Hindu god of fire. Four main Rajput clans are considered to be Agnivanshi. They are Chauhans, Paramara, Solanki and Pratiharas.

RAJPUTSAMAJ, HYDERABAD ITS GROWTH AND ACHIEVEMENT

There were number of Rajput Organizations some as old as 50 years in Hyderabad, but they were working on the same old criteria like holding one function every year, distribution of some scholarship and widow pensions etc. Even thought they were having the required infrastructure but they were not changing with the modern times. Number of progressive men and women in the community tried to influence the said organization to adopt modern approach but they failed.

With this back ground some progressive members of the Rajput’s Community viz Sarvasri Gopal Singh, Bharat Singh, Ashok Thakur Sardar Singh and Jeevan Singh got together in the year 2001 and formed the organisation by name RAJPUT SAMAJ (an awareness forum) with the following aims and objectives.

  • To arrange community gathering like Bagiche and Holi Milan.

  • To collect bio-data of prospective bride and bridegrooms to incorporate them in a directory called VAR VADHU DARSHIKA

  • To arrange marriage alliances through Samaj Marriage Bureau and by holding Var Vadhu Parichay Sammelan every year and

  • To arrange Community Marriage & SAMUHIK VIVAH

With the above objectives in mind the above five members started collecting bio-data of marriageable boys and girls.
